Dr. Linda Wright
Founder & Chief Executive, New Zealand Hydrogen Council
Throughout her 30-year career, Linda has been at the forefront of delivering innovation and change across the sustainability, waste, renewable energy and hydrogen sectors. Linda has provided thought leadership, strategic advice and technical expertise to Ministers, ministries and local and regional governments in New Zealand and internationally. She has worked with a wide range of organisations from start-ups to multinationals and global energy and climate change organisations.
Linda has officially represented New Zealand on the world’s hydrogen stage. She has extensive global networks across the international supply chain and understands intricately the value proposition of hydrogen for New Zealand’s domestic use and export.
Linda has a passion for innovation. She has extensive experience and an established track record in delivering transformational change to achieve decarbonisation across a range of sectors. She has specialist expertise in commercialisation for hydrogen technology, legislative tools, fiscal incentives, strategic frameworks, behavioural change mechanisms, communication strategies, consultation processes, education programmes as well as designing, procuring and delivering major infrastructure projects and services to achieve low emissions outcomes.
In 2016, Linda founded the New Zealand Hydrogen Council, which she has grown from its initial membership of six organisations to more than 60, representing the geographic and economic spectrum of the industry. Linda’s technical knowledge and strategic vision of the opportunities for hydrogen, alongside her wealth of experience and track record in delivering sector change, means she has been instrumental in the development of hydrogen as a zero-emission fuel in New Zealand.
