Mike Horne
Chief Executive Officer, Fullers360
Mike Horne joined Fullers360 as Chief Executive Officer in 2017. Before then, Mike held several senior leadership roles in the New Zealand hospitality and tourism sectors including Chief Operating Officer for Bachcare, General Manager for Tourism Holdings Limited, and CEO of Village Roadshow Limited whose iconic brands include Kelly Tarltons.
As an industry sector leader in Transport and Tourism, Mike has played a pivotal cross sector leadership role driving collaboration across industry, to enable a whole of system approach to green energy and technology solutions. As the largest ferry operator in New Zealand (with 21 vessels and growing) and as its CEO, Mike is instrumental in thought leadership and pursuing his vision for transitioning to green solutions. In 2024, NetZero Maritime was established by Fullers360 to provide end-to-end services to enable innovation and the transition to decarbonisation in New Zealand and offshore.
In January, Fullers360 launched a premium 10-seater zero-emission hydrofoiling tourism vessel in partnership with Vessev, and later this year Fullers360 will commence operation of the first of Auckland’s Fullers360 initiated electric and hybrid-electric fast ferries on the Waitematā harbour under contracted services to Auckland Transport. These projects demonstrate Fullers360’s early commitment to operating a carbon zero fleet by 2040.
In line with New Zealand’s hydrogen roadmap led by MBIE and the NZ Hydrogen Council, hydrogen has been under close inspection with research and development across the last four years alongside global partners. Mike and his team at Fullers360 and NetZero Maritime are now resident experts in how zero emission applications are developed across the transport ecosystem, including: regulations, training and developing people, investment, and how new funding models can be accessed across all transport modes now and into the future.
